The Charge

A man in Houston, who is on probation for DWI, was charged on Tuesday for hitting and killing a 57-year-old man while being DWI again. The defendant aged 28, charged with Hit and Run and DWI, both Felony offenses, according to court records.

According to the Houston Police Department statement, the defendant slammed his vehicle into the 57-year-old man when he off a median and into the street located in the 2300 block of Wayside at about 4:10 p.m. on Monday. The impact threw the victim’s body on a black Honda Accord nearby that stopped at the intersection. The defendant fled the scene driving a white Nissan after the Hit and Run incident. He later caught by police when a witness followed him and contacted the police.

It is the third time the defendant caught in less than two years for DWI. He previously convicted of DWI in August 2016 and February 2017. This arrest took place when the defendant was midway through his 18 months of mandated probation. Just after his second DWI conviction. The defendant also found guilty of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, POM (possession of marijuana), a Felony charge, and a misdemeanor charge, according to court records.

His new destination is Harris County Jail where he has to pay a $50,000 bail.
