Illegal Possession of Controlled Substance is a serious offense, and if not defended properly by a defense attorney, could lead to a more serious scenario. Just like what happened to a certain man in Houston.
A 34-year-old man from Houston and a 28-year old man from San Antonio were charged with possession of a controlled substance in a correctional facility.
The investigation was initiated on Feb. 8 after authorities requested an investigation into illegal possession of a controlled substance in the detention facility. The investigation was the result of alert deputies closely monitoring activities of inmates. The investigation revealed that during the early morning hours of Feb. 8, a suspect was arrested by local authorities on misdemeanor traffic charges.
The suspect smuggled in a small bag of cocaine and hid the contraband in the booking area of the detention facility. The cocaine was subsequently smuggled to a cellblock where it was intercepted and recovered by alert deputies. The cocaine was found to be in possession of two inmates.
A charged with such an offense can have a huge impact on your life. A permanent criminal record can badly affect your career, personal relationships, finances, and family. And by no means, you want this to happen. So, when you are charged with it, call a reputable defense attorney immediately. It’s crucial that you’re well aware of your legal options and what needs to done to mitigate it.
