A Houston man was arrested for Illegal Possession of Controlled Substance, allegedly transporting more than 250 bottles of promethazine syrup, the main ingredient in the drug “Purple Drank.”
A Mobile County sheriff’s deputy pulled over a man on Interstate 10 in Mobile, Alabama, earlier this week for a traffic violation. The deputy smelled marijuana coming from the van, sheriff’s officials said and asked to give it a search.
The deputy found 252 bottles of prescription promethazine syrup in the van’s floor storage bins and in other areas throughout the van, police said. The deputy also found marijuana.
Because of this, the man was charged with 252 felony counts of illegal possession of the controlled substance and one count of marijuana possession.

An example of this happened to March 26, 2019, when two suspects were arrested for illegal possession of a firearm. One of the suspects has been under investigation for more than a year. He was arrested without incident. And is facing federal charges of illegal possession of a firearm by a third-degree felony.
He was previously arrested by deputies in November for possession of a controlled substance. The Investigators report that he and another man were arrested after a car burglary when their getaway vehicle wouldn’t start.
He was under a deferred adjudication order for possession of a controlled substance (between 4 and 200 grams) on Nov. 11, 2018. He was placed under probation on Feb. 14, 2019, for four years.
The other man, who was arrested on Tuesday, has been charged with such offense after deputies found crystal methamphetamine, Adderall and drug paraphernalia in her motel room. She is being held on a $10,000 bond on the second-degree felony.

A man was shot in the arm after a domestic-violence incident in northeast Houston. Police gave this account of events. The incident near Collingsworth and Dabney began about 2:15 a.m. when a man went to an ex-girlfriend’s apartment and started a fight, prompting her to slam her door and lock it.
The man then rammed his Chevy Suburban into the apartment building’s exterior wall which did not break. The ex-girlfriend and another woman threw things at the vehicle and waved a phone to show they were calling 911. The man took off.
A Houston police officer arrived at the apartment and took a report from the women.
Soon after the officer left, the man returned. He got inside the apartment, grabbed the ex-girlfriend by her hair and tried to pull her into the Suburban.
The other woman started throwing rocks in an attempt to disrupt the abduction.
Someone got hold of a gun — it was not clear who or how — and the man was shot in his left arm. He ran away, abandoning his Suburban, and called 911 once he was six or seven blocks away. Houston paramedics took him to a hospital in stable condition.
Neither woman was seriously injured. Police did not arrest either of them. The case is being referred to the Harris County District Attorney’s Office to decide what, if any, charges will be filed.
A minor domestic incident could quickly lead to a more serious domestic abuse charge. For instance, if a harassment charge is alleged by a victim, and it’s found the victim and offender were involved in an intimate relationship, the law enforcement is required to make an immediate arrest to ensure the continued safety of the alleged victim, as well as the safety of other occupants in their home.
Domestic violence offenses usually involve spouses, partners or people who are dating or living together. The prosecutors and lawmakers will continue to pursue the case even in situations where the alleged victim wishes to drop all charges. Therefore, it is crucial to have an experienced defense on your side.

An All-Star reliever accepted a 15-game suspension under Major League Baseball’s domestic violence policy, discipline stemming from an altercation last October.
The suspension was the fourth and least severe under the policy, which was agreed to in August 2015. The reliever was penalized 29 games.
He was arrested Oct. 31 on a simple assault charge, but prosecutors later dropped the case. Under the domestic violence policy, a player can be disciplined absent a criminal conviction
The player is eligible to continue to participate in all spring training activities and exhibition games and leading up to the game’s opener and then must sit out the team’s first 15 games. He can participate in up to six minor league games while serving the penalty.
Barring any postponements, he would be eligible to return April 20 at home against another state and would lose $730,328, which is 18-183rds of his $7,425,000 salary. Under a change this year to baseball’s joint drug agreement, he loses the salary of off-days during the suspension, in addition to the pay on the days of games he misses.
The player has undergone 12 90-minute counseling sessions, and that the counselor said he was willing to take steps to ensure he will not be involved in another incident. He also will speak to other players about his learning process and will donate time and money to domestic violence prevention organizations.
He was charged after his wife made several frantic 911 calls to police in Fort Lee, New Jersey, in which she described her husband as drunk. According to his wife, he had a little bit of alcohol, and he’s going crazy. She was left with scratches on her chest and a bruise on her right cheek.
A judge dismissed charges in December after the player’s wife told a prosecutor her husband did not hurt her.
