Reports stated that the driver who hit the officers, a 22-year-old Hayward man, was hospitalized with serious injuries. He is suspected of driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, specifically marijuana. The driver’s name has not been released.
The police officers urged Houston drivers to slow down when they see police vehicles on the highway when an officer was critically injured after a traffic stop. The driver was later charged with intoxicated assault of a public servant.
