A DWI charge is anything but serious. It can lead to a criminal conviction and the possibility of a suspended driving license. In Dallas, a man has been sentenced to prison after pleading guilty for repeatedly doing DWI’s.
According to the report, the judge sentenced the man to 5 years in prison after he pled guilty and elected for the court to assess his punishment. This was his fourth DWI case.
The latest case stems from an April 2 incident wherein the man was reported driving while intoxicated. The informant reportedly asked the police to stop and arrest the man for driving while intoxicated.
Furthermore, the police officers stopped the man in a parking lot and found him obviously intoxicated.
Additionally, on several occasions, the man was also arrested by the police department for felony DWI. According to reports, he had BAC’s of .243 and .319 respectively.
Despite numerous public campaigns against the dangers of driving while drunk, every year thousands of people are still getting arrested and penalized with prison sentences and heavy fines for DWI Conviction. If you’ve been drinking at a party or celebrating, it’s a bad idea to drive if you’ve had a drink or two. Drunk drivers cause serious and fatal accidents. The numbers are frightening than you might think.

Under the law of Texas, DWI is a criminal offense that can have extremely serious legal consequences. The police authorities are now actively searching for people who violate the law and most drivers learn that they can be arrested and accused of DWI even after only a few drinks.
Below are just some of the many cases involving DWI during the month of June 2017alone.
In June 2017, Houston police arrested 55 drivers on felony alcohol charges. Specific charges ranged from driving while intoxicated with a child in the vehicle to intoxicated assault with a vehicle.
Some of the suspects had two or more prior arrests on similar charges. Driving while intoxicated is typically a misdemeanor on the first two offenses.
In U.S. states with the toughest laws to discourage drinking and driving, fewer children and teens were killed in car crashes, a new study shows. Half of motor vehicle accidents that claim the lives of children and teens in the United States are fueled by alcohol, the researchers noted. Of the nearly 85,000 kids and teens killed in car crashes in the United States between 2000 and 2013, 28 percent involved drivers who were legally drunk.
While most of the felony cases in June were the result of a third DWI charge, 13 people were arrested on a charge of DWI with a child present, while one person was arrested an on the charge of intoxicated assault with a vehicle.

The woman was arrested shortly before midnight. A person called police when they saw she was blocking two lanes of traffic at North Houston Rosslyn Road and 34th. Police said they determined that she was impaired and she was charged with driving while intoxicated.
The woman joined the Houston police force in 1992 and was currently working in the property room as a senior police officer. She was relieved of duty with pay pending the outcome of an internal investigation.

DWI is a serious offense. If not defended properly, it will lead to a more serious and even lifetime imprisonment. Take note that DWI charges excuse no one. Even if you are a famous celebrity, you can be arrested for DWI once proved. This is what happened to a certain country singer when he was arrested in 2012 after a crash.
When police arrived on the scene, they found the country singer was naked and likely intoxicated.
After his arrest, the country singer went to court and filed a lawsuit in September 2017 to try to keep the video from going public, claiming it was a violation of his privacy rights.
The lawsuit said the footage, which according to legal records show him nude and disorientated and making threats to the officers, were highly embarrassing and intimate and inappropriate to release in light of the fact that the certain country singer “can no longer speak cogently and is not even in the position to discuss, let alone defend, his previous actions.”
However, the police ordered that the video is released after the singer was unable to provide “actionable constitutional claims.”
DWIs By State
In 2015, California had the highest number of DWI arrests. The state reported 214,828 arrests. The lowest DWI arrest rate is in Delaware. It’s not surprising as Delaware has one the lowest populations in the United States. In contrast, California is the most populated state in the country. There isn’t any clear reason for this inconsistency. Many states, in an attempt to lower DWI arrests, are now relentlessly focusing their anti-drunk driving campaigns to specific demographics.
