Detectives arrested a Magnolia pastor on charges he sexually assaulted a young girl – and officials believe there could be more victims. The team raided the church and later apprehended 56-year-old pastor.
Police say they found evidence of the alleged sexual assault and a “large cache of weapons and ammunition” in a residence at the church.
Since the pastor led his church from different locations around the greater Houston area, including Tomball, South Houston, and Montgomery County, investigators believe there could be more victims who have yet to come forward.
A relative of some church members said the pastor tells church members to cut off contact with their biological families. He collects money from the church members, all of whom are struggling financially, the relative said.
The preacher forbids dating and instead sets up church members to marry, the relative added.
A church member told the police all the church’s 20 or so members, including children, live with the pastor and his wife. She questioned the allegation of sexual abuse.
A neighbor who lives up the street said he only knew of the pastor, his wife and their niece living at the house. The neighbor said they traded greetings occasionally and were good neighbors.
The pastor is facing one second-degree felony count of sexual assault of a child.

In Magnolia, prosecutors filed additional child sexual assault charges against a pastor accused of coercing a 16-year-old congregation member into sex on multiple occasions.
The 56-year old pastor is now facing four second-degree felony counts of sexual assault of a child – one for every time prosecutors say he had sex with the underage girl over a four-month period from 2015 into 2016. He is facing up to 80 years in prison for those charges, but detectives believe there could be more victims.
Court documents show the pastor had the girl staying with him at his church in Garwood Court near Magnolia, telling the girl’s mother that she needed to be “watched” and have “more supervision.”
The first instance of the alleged sexual assault happened the weekend before Thanksgiving in 2015, the girl told investigators. About two weeks after that, Mitchell allegedly asked the girl if she was ready for more sexual encounters.
She initially said no but felt threatened by the pastor, court records show and eventually succumbed. The sexual assaults continued for months, court records show, including during trips to Las Vegas, San Antonio, and Galveston. The pastor’s wife would bring the girl to a clinic in Conroe to receive birth control shots. It is unclear if she could be charged with a crime for doing so. The girl told a fellow church member about the abuse, court records show. The church member eventually contacted Magnolia police to help retrieve the girl from the church in September, but she did not learn of the abuse until the following month.
The police raided the compound Nov. 1 and found evidence of the assault. They also found a large cache of weapons and ammunition, which the pastor kept in preparation for the “dark times” and rapture.

A Katy man has been charged in federal court with distributing child pornography.
Houston police arrested the man was arrested at his home in Katy on Aug. 18.
The man, who has been charged with distributing child pornography over the Internet, appeared before a U.S. Magistrate Judge in Houston and will be held in federal custody without bond, dependent on further criminal proceedings.
A criminal complaint filed on Aug. 18 alleged the man made childhood pornography available using peer-to-peer software from his home computer.
Investigating agents discovered multiple images of children under the age of 12 being sexually violated in different ways, according to a statement.
The penalty for distributing child pornography five to 20 years of imprisonment with a maximum fine of $250,000.
Conviction also includes a maximum life term of supervised release and requires the person charged to register as a sex offender.

A Magnolia man is behind bars after detectives caught him downloading child pornography.
The man allegedly admitted to having the child pornography on his computer, detectives said. Police searched through the computer and found four photographs of child pornography.
The detectives were working with the Harris County Internet Crimes Against Children unit in late January when they came across a 42-year old man, downloading child pornography from the internet, detectives said. Investigators traced the download to his home.
He is facing four third-degree felony counts of possession of child pornography and is being held in the Montgomery County Jail on $80,000 worth of bonds.
He could face up to 10 years in prison if convicted.
